Business Development Manager
Location: Alberta, Canada (Work from Home with occasional office visits in High River, near Calgary)
My client is a leading open deck carrier specializing in the transportation of agricultural implements, tractors, combines, and more across Western Canada. With over 35 years of experience, they pride themselves on delivering exceptional service and building strong relationships with their clients. They are currently in an exciting phase of growth and are looking to expand their team with a dynamic Business Development Manager.
About the Role:
The Business Development Manager will be responsible for identifying and securing new business opportunities within the transportation industry, focusing on sustainable growth. This role requires a self-starter with a strong understanding of the transportation sector, particularly in open deck freight. The successful candidate will work independently to develop and manage a pipeline of potential clients, ensuring consistent revenue growth. This is a large territory and will have the opportunity to prospect and close business across Western Canada.

Key Responsibilities:
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities in Western Canada, including British Columbia, Alberta, and Saskatchewan.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, acting as their primary point of contact.
- Collaborate with freight coordinators to ensure seamless onboarding and account management.
- Achieve a target of $1.5 to $2.5 million in consistent, sustainable growth per year.
- Utilize CRM tools to manage leads, track progress, and report on sales activities.
- Conduct market research to identify potential clients and industry trends.
- Attend industry events and networking opportunities
- Work closely with the operations team to ensure client satisfaction and address any issues.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in the transportation industry, with a focus on sales or business development.
- Strong understanding of the flat deck transportation sector.
- Proven track record of achieving sales targets and driving business growth.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Proficiency in CRM software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint).
- Familiarity with the Western Canadian market is preferred.
- Base salary: $110,000 to $130,000, depending on experience.
- Performance-based incentive: 3% of net revenue growth.

- Vacation: 3 to 4 weeks, depending on experience.
