Systems Engineer Specialist
Our client is a leader in engineering and consulting services for mission-critical buildings, often stepping in to solve the most complex design challenges for enterprise clients such as Amazon and Microsoft. The Smart Technology and Contracting division is tracking to double revenues next year, and they are seeking a customer-focused Systems Engineer Specialist (100% remote – United States) to provide technical support and leadership to plan, schedule, and execute hardware, software, and network engineering for projects across a variety of industries.

The Role
- Develop and execute hardware engineering solutions: Lead designs for DDC and PLC systems, controls network/system architecture, BAS controls and EPMS AE drawings, and control panels (power, relay logic, wiring diagrams); create and review sequence of operations; select instrumentation, sensors, actuators, valves, and other devices, and create BOMs; work with client IT departments.
- Construction process, deliverables, and submissions: Review and submit deliverables per project requirements (AE design drawings, product data, manuals, and asbuilts); serve as the client contact for multiple projects; participate in design reviews, coordinate with vendors for product specs, pricing, and availability.
- Communication and reporting: Manage communication on each project; prepare progress reports for internal and external stakeholders; manage personal hours.
About You
- Must have 5+ years of building automation design experience, and understand how to design a BAS system form start to finish (network system architecture, protocols, points list, sequencing, products and sensors, etc.).
- Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or related field.
- Strong customer-facing, project management, and organizational skills.
- Knowledge of smart building solutions, IoT
- Knowledge of Networking (Addressing, VLAN, LAN, switches, routers), open-source protocols (BACnet, Modbus, SNMP)
- Knowledge of DDC systems (Distech, Honeywell, Tridium Niagara) and PLC systems (Schneider Electric, Allen Bradley)
- Ability to travel periodically within United States (around 10%-15% of the year)
