Our client is a leader in engineering and consulting services for mission-critical buildings. They are looking for a Business Development Manager in the Smart Technology and Contracting department, focusing on building automation and control systems for data centres and telecommunications facilities. The role involves developing business strategies, building relationships with general contractors, and overseeing the proposal team.
About the Role:
- Develop and implement a business strategy for targeting new markets and clients.
- Build and maintain relationships with general contractors, preconstruction managers, and senior estimators.
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities, including RFPs and negotiated work.
- Oversee the proposal team, ensuring high-quality and competitive proposals.
- Manage the sales pipeline, track performance metrics, and provide regular updates to senior management.
- Travel up to 50% to meet with clients, attend trade shows, and build a network.
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure seamless project execution and client satisfaction.
About You:
- 5-10 years of sales experience in the building automation, industrial, or manufacturing sectors.
- Experience selling to general contractors.
- Leadership experience – knowing how to lead different internal stakeholders to get a deal done.
- Proven track record of achieving sales targets and managing long-term sales cycles.
- Strong understanding of RFP processes and experience in developing competitive proposals.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Willingness to travel up to 50% for client meetings and industry events.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
