Paul Dimond, Sales Talent Agent

Sales is in the blood........

Having made the decision to join the workforce immediately after finishing school, my journey began as a landscape apprentice. Working with close mates, keeping fit and enjoying the hot Aussie sun whilst making good money was everything a young guy could want, but 3 years on I asked myself the question: where is this taking me?

And so, I entered the food brokerage business where I was responsible for assisting sales reps manage and develop shelf space for a number of key brands. Eventually I moved on to managed the Territory, which I did for the best part of 4 years.

Through interacting with recruiters, I started to consider the business for myself. I sat down with my Dad and one of his close friends who ran an Executive Search practice who told me that starting in this business I should “expect to be given the Yellow Pages, a phone and computer and told to go!” Being the confident 25 year old I was, I took about 1.5 seconds to think about it before saying YES! The job was with a prominent Sales Recruitment company and, in what can only be described as a glorified telemarketing studio, I had KPI’s that included making 400 business development calls per week!

This led me to the company Morgan Consulting where I found a mentor that I will be forever be in debt to. He was able to help me refine, develop and polish my skills so my business development was more credible, effective and consultative. I was with Morgan for 3.5 years before the global economy took a dive and I was approached to consider an internal recruitment position with an HR focus at World Vision, Australia’s largest not for profit. I gained some very valuable experience here, learning much about the intricate complexities managers face when hiring. Most importantly, I was lucky to meet my gorgeous fiancé Kate here who I fell in love with from day 1.

We both had aspirations to work and live overseas and the equation was simple; UK or Canada....enough said. We arrived in Vancouver January 2010 and in March I started working with Hays Specialist Recruitment, focusing primarily on office support, HR and as much Sales as I could get my hands on.

My passion for Sales Recruitment led me to Sales Talent Agency and the rest, as they say, is history. The sales methodologies and recruitment practices used by Jamie, Sonya and the team at Sales Talent Agency are ones I could relate to instantly and evidence of why the business has risen so rapidly to become Canada’s leading Sales Recruitment company. This, combined with a culture of empowerment and a focus on building genuine, long lasting successful relationships with both candidates and clients, makes this move completely worthwhile.

For the love of Sales!
